Sandanbeki cave
Sandanbeki cave is located in Shirahamach, the southwest area of Wakayama Prefectuere. It is said that Kumano Suigun Navy, the reinforcement of Genji, which fought in the Genpei War in the Heian period, hid the boat in the cave. Sandanbeki is a precipitous cliff with the height being of 60 meters and the wall of the rock of about 2 km. Crashing waves from the Pacific Ocean flow into the cave through the gap of Sandanbeki, showing magnificent wave splash. Other than the cave, there is a lot to see, such as the intricately reproduced guardhouse and the observation deck where you can take a close look at the powerful waves breaking on the wall. A lap around the cave is 200 meters and it takes about 30 minutes to look around. The must see spot is the small shrine of Murodaibenzaiten which is made of bronze. It is known for bring happiness. It is magnified as it makes any dream come true. Try making a wish here.
