Nakamachi Street

Nakamachi Street is located in Matsumoto City, Chuo region of Nagano Prefecture, near Matsumoto Castle.
Black and white storehouses hosting all kinds of stores, including breweries, dry-goods, wholesale goods, and pottery are lined up at this popular spot. Matsumoto is a castle town with over 400 years of history - this history is reflected in the appearance of Nakamachi Street.
Prayers for good health are offered every year on different dates, including "Ame City" on January 11th, a commemoration of salt arriving to the city, and on the Lunar New Year in January in the traditional event "Sankuro". The largest festival in Matsumoto City, "Matsumoto BonBon", occurs on the first saturday of August, with participants partying to the rhythm of samba.
