Gifu Castle stands tall on the top of Mount Kinka in Gifu city. This castle played a huge role for the famous shogun, Oda Nobunaga, who used Gifu Castle as a base for his unification of the country (天下統一). It is a symbol of Gifu city, which developed as a typical "Castle Town".
