INAX Live Museum
INAX Live Museum
The INAX Live Museum is located in Tokoname city in the South-west region of Aichi prefecture. The museum gets its name from INAX, the toilet manufacturer, which is owned by Lixil Group, who runs the museum. The theme of the museum is “Living Culture”, and it sets out to preserve the history and spread awareness of Tokoname City's famous pottery. The start of the museum was when INAX repaired and opened the Kiln Plaza to the public in 1986. After the addition of buildings and facilities, the INAX Live Museum had its grand opening in 2006. Six buildings make up the museum: the Kiln Plaza, Tile Museum, Tiling Workshop, Clay Works, Ceramics Lab, and the Architectural Terracotta Museum. The Tile Museum features a collection of over 1,000 decorative tiles from ancient times to present day. At the Clay Works there is a workshop where visitors can polish and color their own clay balls.
