Aichi Expo Park, also known as Morikoro Park or Ai-Chikyu Haku Kinen Park, is far from your average park. It is a metropolitan playground that provides fun for visitors of all ages. Have an active day out or a relaxing visit at the Aichi Expo Park.

History

In 2005, the Aichi Expo was at two venues Aichi prefecture. The expo was a World Fair with the theme of “Nature’s Wisdom”, and showcased technologies and innovations from all over the world with the aim of creating a eco-friendly, sustainable future.

One of the most popular exhibits at the fair was the Mammoth Excavation and Exhibition Project. The exhibit was so popular, that the lines to get in the venue were as long as three to six hours long.

Aichi Expo Park lies on one of the former venue sites in the city of Nagakute. The park is also nicknamed Morikoro Park, which comes from the names of the official mascots of the Expo, Morizo and Kikkoro.

Satsuki and Mei’s House

Satsuki and Mei’s House is a recreation of the house from the animation film, “My Neighbor Totoro”. The film is one of director Miyazaki Hayao’s representative works. The house is an amazingly accurate recreation of the one in the movie, where the sisters Satsuki and May lived.
The house is located in the middle of a forest, and sucks you into the world of Totoro.
