Fukushima Old Town
The Fukushima Old town, located in Kiso-cho of southern west Nagano Prefecture, is a inner mountain town that connected Edo and Kyoto during the Edo period. The Fukushima checkpoint, which was one of the four main checkpoints, made Fukushima post town a big named town. The town buildings were all demolished due to fires, however, the topography and roads still remain. In the Uenodan district, you can see traditional Japanese architecture.
