Sasayama Castle Dai-shoin (Large Study Hall)

Sasayama Castle Dai-shoin (Large Study Hall)
Sasayama Castle Dai-Shoin (large study hall) is located in Sasayama city, eastern central part of Hyogo Prefecture. It is a historical building that was built with the Sasayama Castle in 1609. Although it burnt down once, it was rebuilt in 2000 and still stands today. It has an East Asian hip-and-gable roof and wood shingle roofing. Although the Dai-Shoin did not have a castle tower, it was used as the main building of Sasayama Castle. The large size of the castle is comparable to "Tozamurai Hall of Ninomaru Goten" in Nijo Castle. Tozamurai Hall of Ninomaru Goten was a first-class building so it was used for the accomodations of Shoguns in the past. Restaurants that serve the local cuisines, such as buckwheat noodles, black soybeans, and boar meat surround the area. At the beginning of each year, many events including the Kamkizome contest and the Sengoku Festival take place!
