Toki Forest Park
Toki Forest Park
Toki Forest Park is located in the central part of Sado Island, Niigata Prefecture, in the Eastern Kuninaka Plain. It is a park adjacent to Sado Toki (Japanese crested ibis) Conservation Center, and has Toki-related facilities all over. The park has two facilities: Toki Fureai Plaza (Toki Rapport Plaza) and Toki Archive Exhibition Hall. Toki Fureai Plaza is a large cage that closely replicates tokis' natural habitat, and there you can see tokis flying, eating food, and making nests just as they do in the wild. If you are lucky, you can observe tokis at a short distance of several centimeters from them through the magic mirror in the observation passage. Toki Archive Exhibition Hall displays stuffed and skeletal specimens of tokis as well as videos and panels on breeding under protection and return to the wild. The building has an observation corridor, from which you can observe tokis in the adjacent Sado Toki Conservation Center through the window. There are shops near the entrance of the park, and in particular, Edamame soft serve made with Sado's edamame is popular.
