Meikyoku Kissa Lion
Meikyoku Kissa Lion
The Meikyoku Kissa Lion cafe is hidden deep down the Shibuya Hyakkaten street in Tokyo's Shibuya City. Classical music, cafe drinks, and the building's showa era architecture can be enjoyed at this cafe. It has been beloved by music lovers as a place to gather and relax since its opening. The brick building was rebuilt in 1950, and is soon entering its 70th year. The exterior, interior, and decoration of the buildings were all done by the cafe's founder. In the front half are 3D speakers that were custom-ordered from Pioneer when the cafe was built. The 3D sound system is unparelled in all of the capital. Visitors may feel as if they have been transported to a classic concert hall in Vienna as the beautiful sound fills the cafe. There is classical music constantly playing, and every day at 15:00 and 19:00, there are "Lion concerts" where masterpiece songs selected by the cafe staff are played. Only drinks and ice cream are offered on the menu, and included are nostalgic items reminiscent of the Showa era such as lemon pop, milkshakes, and cream soda. The rich coffee, made in the same way as the cafe in London, "Lion Bakery", is highly recommended. Taking photos and talking loudly are banned. This is a place to enjoy the passing of time while soaking in the classics and sipping a delicious drink.
