Tokyo Metropolitan Teien Art Museum
Tokyo Metropolitan Teien Art Museum
Tokyo Metropolitan Teien Art Museum stands in Tokyo’s upscale neighborhood of Shirogane-dai. The museum is housed in an Art Deco style mansion surrounded by lush gardens.
The main structure was originally built in 1933 as the residence of Prince Asaka. The building is decorated to its finest details in the elegant Art Deco style. It is worth visiting the art museum just for its indoor décor.
A large lawn stretches across the south side of the art museum, where visitors enjoy reading under the trees or having picnics with families and friends.
A Japanese garden also lies in the back of the museum grounds, with a traditional Japanese tearoom. The museum exemplifies the harmony between Western and Japanese aesthetics, and is a wonderful place to spend time.
