The Tomonotsu Museum was born in 2012 upon the remains of the old but good art of Tomonoura. Inside are displays of works of art called, Art Brut. Art Brut is a type of art that is extremely self-expressive. It is part of the genre, outsider art, and has gotten a lot of attention for its unique expressions. The Tomonotsu Museum is the third Art Brut art gallery in Japan. The building is a renovated structure of an old townhouse from the Meiji period.
