Shinohara Furin Honpo Wind Chime Factory
Shinohara Furin Honpo Wind Chime Factory
Shinohara Furin Honpo is located in Edogawa Ward, Tokyo. It is the long-established wind chime factory continues to inherit the manufacturing methods of the Edo period.
Shinohara Furin Honpo is a Furin factory founded in 1915, crafting "Edo Furin", a designated traditional art craft of Tokyo. The Edo Furin is made using the hand-blown method, succeeded from the Edo Period, and has intentionally jagged edges to produce the soothing, frictional ring that they are known for. The artisans also take extra care in painting the wind chimes from the inside of the glass.
At Shinohara Furin Honpo, you can observe how the artisans craft wind chimes and/or experience crafting your own (Both require a prior reservation). Reservations are open outside of their summer high-season, so it's worth staying updated!
