Akagi Shrine Main Hall exterior

Akagi Shrine

Akagi Shrine sits on the eastern shore of Lake Onuma in Gunma prefecture. This is the main “Akagi Shrine” out of the 300 sub-shrines throughout Japan. It is officially called Daido Akagi-jinja, and its vermillion bridge and main hall are eye-catching. Akaghi-hime princess is enshrined here, and it is said that women who pray here will give birth to a beautiful child. The omamori, or lucky charm, is popular for how cute it looks.
