Shinshu Hiraya Onsen Himawari-no-yu

Shinshu Hiraya Onsen Himawari-no-yu is an onsen hot spring complex in Shimoinagun, Nagano, reputed as a "beauty bath." The hot spring water is said to promote beautiful skin.
The resort's biggest draws are the two massive open-air baths in garden settings, each with different sceneries. The men's bath is laid with stones and surrounded by large rocks, while the women's bath is built with marble for a delicate touch. The vegetation and bird calls remind bathers of the coming of seasons, and give a peek into the rich nature of Hiraya Onsen hot springs. (The photograph is of the men's bath.)
Local residents have planted a field-full of sunflowers nearby, which bloom every year around end July to early August. All 3,000 sunflowers open their buds together for a truly stunning view of the summer.
