Tsukumoso

Tsukumoso Lodge

Tsukumoso Lodge is located in the Nanki Shirahama area, Wakayama Prefecture. It is an accomodation facility remodeled from a historic Sukiyadukuri style teahouse (a type of Japanese residential architecture) and has a limit of one group per day. Tsukumoso's main attraction is the building itself. The wooden two-story structure was born as a tea house in Shirahama Shinchi in 1934, and over three years, was carefully renovated into a rental lodge that houses the spirit of Japanese hospitality throughout the building. The front porch, sprinkled with water for cooler temperatures; the meticulously maintained courtyard; the seasonal flowers decorating the entrance... all aspects of the building are picturesque dioramas of traditional Japanese beauty. The accommodation plans at Tsukumoso do not include meals, but their bath draws a constant 24-hour flow from the local Shirahama Onsen Hot Spring. Spend a night at Tsukumoso, for the special experience of staying in a traditional Japanese tea-house.
