Mount Iwaki stands tall in the western region of Aomori prefecture. The mountain serves as a spiritual symbol for the people of the area, and also as a trekking spot for adventurous tourists. There are five trekking courses to choose from, ranging from beginner to advanced levels. Visit in the warmer months for a climb up to the peak, and come back again in the winter for a ski trip.
