COMICO ART MUSEUM YUFUIN
COMICO ART MUSEUM YUFUIN
COMICO ART MUSEUM YUFUIN is in Yufuin City, Oita Prefecture. The art museum standing in Japan’s popular hot spring resort of Yufuin fuses contemporary art with Yufuin’s nature, and entry is by reservation only.
The museum is the brainchild of the comprehensive entertainment platform comico, which publishes online comics and other content such as manga comics, novels and films. Architect Kengo Kuma, who was in charge of the design, created a completely new art facility in Yufuin's nature-rich, bucolic landscape.
The museum has 3 indoor galleries; “GALLERY I” showcases the work of the globally active artist, Takashi Murakami. “GALLERY II” displays a collection of works titled “Seascapes” by the artist Hiroshi Sugimoto. The “OPEN GALLERY” exhibits Yoshimoto Nara’s massive art installation titled “Your Dog”.
The exhibits can be viewed by joining an hour-long guided tour, and visitors are required to make online reservations to enter the museum. Explore contemporary artwork at COMICO ART MUSEUM YUFUIN, which stands in harmony with Yufuin’s natural surroundings yet exudes a unique vibe.
