Omiya Bonsai Village

Omiya Bonsai Village is in Saitama City, in the southern part of Saitama Prefecture. It is in the north side of Omiya Park, in an area with many bonsai-related businesses.

It is said that Omiya Bonsai Village was started when a bonsai supplier moved from Tokyo around 1923, after the Great Kanto Earthquake. Before World War II, more than 30 bonsai suppliers gathered in the area and it became famous as a hotspot of bonsai enthusiasm.

Currently, there are 5 bonsai gardens in Bonsai Village, and each garden features characteristic bonsai that attract many bonsai fans. Some bonsai dealers not only sell bonsai, but also hold bonsai classes. One experience allows you to make your own bonsai with the instruction of a professional, and is gathering great popularity.

The Great Bonsai Festival is held every May. You can fully enjoy the culture of bonsai, through exhibitions and material sales by local citizens.
