Higashiyama Zoo and Botanical Gardens

Higashiyama Zoo and Botanical Gardens was established in 1937, with the goal of creating a sustainable environment for the following generations. The zoo currently is home to the most number of species in Japan, and also has an impressive botanical garden. Participate in special events, such as feeding kangaroos and monkeys, or talk shows where the zoo keepers share their animal knowledge. You can also visit Higashiyama Park, which is right next to the zoo, before or after your zoo trip.
