Hirosaki Park sits in the middle of the city of Hirosaki. It surrounds the remains of Hirosaki Castle, which was active until the end of the Edo period (1603 – 1867). The park is known nationwide for its 2,600 cherry blossoms in the spring. They are everywhere in the park – by the moat, near the castle, and so forth. Over 2 million visitors rush to Hirosaki Park every April to see the cherry blossoms.
