Kinkakuji Temple

Kinkakuji Temple, officially called Rokuonji Temple, locates in the northwestern area of Kyoto. The temple was built in 1394 as a villa for shogun Ashikagawa Yoshimitsu. The golden pavilion is covered in gold flakes, and is made in a three-story structure. The surrounding lake reflects the golden pavilion for a stunning view. Inside the temple grounds, you can enjoy some matcha tea and traditional snacks at the teahouse.
