Kazamidori Hall
Kazamidori Hall
The "Kazamidori Building" is one of the Kitano Ijin Buildings, located in central Kobe City. The Ijin Buildings were homes to westerners during the Meiji period. This building, known as the "Old Thomas Residence" was home to the German trader, Thomas Gottfried, during the 20th century. The red-brick building was designed by a German architect, Georg de Lalande. It was designated as a National Important Cultural Property in 1978. The building was closed for renovation during the years, 1983 to 1985, however, has maintained a form similar to its original design.
