Nankin Town (Chinatown)
Nankin Town, an area of over 100 shops of chinese restaurants and miscellaneous goods, came about from the mass settlement of the Chinese in 1868. This area was popular for the close distance from the western-styled homes and foreign concessions. Although the great fire of Kobe burnt down the area in 1945, the town was restored in 1970 with the formation of the Nankin Town Association. Now, Nankin Town is one of Japan's top 3 chinatowns along with Yokohama and Nagasaki. Aside from all the Chinese cuisines and fun shopping, the events during the winter and autumn are also things to look out for!
