Moere-numa Park
Moere-numa Park
Moere-numa Park stands in Sapporo City’s Higashi Ward, on Japan’s northernmost island of Hokkaido. The roughly 1,880,000㎡ park was created on the concept of “the whole being a single sculpture.” The park was opened in 2005 and designed by Isamu Noguchi -- the designer of the famed “coffee table” art piece.
The park is dotted with many art installations, such as the “Ocean Fountain” whose water displays depict a sea storm, and the glass pyramid “HIDAMARI” which resembles the Louvre Museum. Around 2,300 sakura cherry trees bloom in spring and “Moere Beach” opens in summer for children to play in. In fall, the park is covered in autumn-colored foliage and visitors can enjoy activities such as crosscountry skiing in the winter, making the park attractive throughout the four seasons.
Make time to visit this unique park, and experience its blend of nature and art.
