Sumida Park
Sumida Park
Sumida Park locates 1 kilometer away from Tokyo Skytree. It stretches across the banks of Sumida River, and has been known as a cherry blossom viewing spot since the Edo period (16003 – 1867). About 510 cherry blossom trees of different kinds are planted by the river. From the Tembo-hiroba Square in the central area of the park, you can see Tokyo Skytree right in front of you. Sakura-bashi Bridge, which spans across the river, is perfect for a romantic night walk. Seasonal events are held at Sumida Park throughout the year. In April, you can see Yabusame, a traditional horseback archery festival. In the summer, the Sumidagawa Fireworks Festival, one of Tokyo’s biggest fireworks festivals, is held here. There are also several sports facilities in the park, such as tennis courts and a baseball field.
