Satsuki and Mei's House
Satsuki and Mei's House
Satsuki and Mei’s House is a life-size replica of the house in the film, “My Neighbor Totoro”. In the Studio Ghibli film, two sisters, Satsuki and Mei, and their father, move into a house in the countryside. You can find this life-size replica inside Aichi Expo Park, which was made to commemorate the Aichi Expo, held in 2005. The exterior isn’t the only part of the house that is accurately resembled. The rooms inside the house – such as the study and laundry room – and even the corridors, look as if they came right out of the film. The house is also a fun way to see what a house in post-war Japan would look like. You can buy tickets for Satsuki and Mei’s House on the day of your visit, but reserving them beforehand is highly recommended. You can reserve them at your nearest Lawson or MINI STOP convenience stores on the Loppi ticketing machines.
