The Asahiyama Zoo, located in central Asahikawa city, is known as Japan's top class zoo. This zoo specializes in showing the animals in their natural habitat. With the "Moujyu Building" as the start, this zoo has over 20 facilities, including about 150 species and about 750 animals. Within the many facilities, the "Polar Bear Building" is definitely the highlight. Inside, there is a giant pool bear where a 2 meter tall polar jumps in and out of. You can see the polar bear from head to toe when it is swimming in the pool. In addition, there are other highlights, such as the "Seal Building", where you can see the seal swimming up close, and the "Penguin Building", a 360 degree penguin area.
