Canal City Hakata

Canal City Hakata is the largest commercial facility in the entire Kyushu region. At 43,500㎡, it measures around the same size as Tokyo Dome. Inside are shops, a movie theater, hotels and more. The building has a modern feel to it, and was designed by the American architect Jon Jerde.
Inside of the facility is a canal. At fountain in the central area of the canal, a fountain show is held every day. On the stage by the canal, special events are held almost daily. The decorations of the facility vary throughout the year, according to seasons and events.
In 2011, Canal City Hakata East opened. It specializes in fashion and interior decorations.
