Niji no Matsubara Pine Grove
Niji no Matsubara Pine Grove locates in Saga prefecture’s city of Karatsu. It is considered one of Japan’s top three pine groves, and is the only one of the three that is designated as a national special scenic spot. Here, you can find over 1 million pine trees on a stretch of land measuring 2,130,000㎡. The pine grove stretches across the coast of the Karatsu Bay, and goes on for about 4.5 kilometers. The trees were planted in the 17th century to protect the land from winds and high tides. There are two trees that are intertwined, and those two trees are considered lucky to see.
