Mount Tokachidake locates in the town of Kamifurano in central Hokkaido. It measures 2,077 meters tall, and has a history of over 2.5 million years. In the summer, the mountain surfaces are decorated with high-altitude flowers like rhododendrons and iwakagami. Mount Tokachidake is one of the earliest spots in Hokkaido where you can enjoy the fall foliage. Since Mount Tokachidake is an active volcano, there are many hot springs in the area, along with hot spring facilities. In the summer, the mountain is a popular climbing site, and in the winter people come here to ski. The foot of the mountain, where the hike starts, is a hot springs town, so you can take a nice long bath after your adventure. Nearby are the famous lavender fields of Furano. They are in full blossom during the summer months.
