Kasane-iwa Rocks
Kasane-iwa Rocks
Kasane-iwa is a pair of rocks stacked together, and is found on Shodoshima Island in Kagawa prefecture. It is unknown why the rocks are stacked together the way they are. In fact, whether it was done naturally or by man is a mystery, too. Because of this strange, unique detail, the rocks are considered a spiritual power spot. The rocks found here were used for building the Osaka Castle. The area is designated as a National Historic Landmark for its significance. This area is known as a place where you can see the view of Shodoshima’s western coast. The climb up here is steep and rocky, so be sure to take caution when hiking. On the way up to the top, you will find Kose-ishizuchi Shrine, which enshrines the two rocks. Here, you can take a break during your hike.
