Shiroyama Park

Shiroyama Park, in the city of Kashima in Ibaraki prefecture, sits on the remains of Kashima Castle. The park locates 25 meters above ground level, and allows for a view of the city of Kashima. Kashima Castle was built around 800 years ago by the orders of Minamoto no Yoritomo, the founder of the Kamakura shogunate. In the park, a memorial of the castle can be found. In the spring, the park is decorated with cherry blossom trees blooming all over the premise. Shiroyama Park is great for families, as there are playground equipment for kids to play on and benches for resting.
