Hinomisaki Shrine
Hinomisaki Shrine, in the city of Izumo, Shimane, is made up of two smaller sub-shrines, Kami-no-miya and Hishizumi-no-miya. While the Ise Grand Shrine in Mie is known to be the guardian of the daytime, while Hinomisaki Shrine is said to be the guardian of the evening. It is also known to bring luck in business prosperity, traffic safety and more. Kami-no-miya enshrines Susano-no-mikoto, a deity, who is said to have chosen to enshrine himself there. In Hishizumi-no-miya, the deity Amaterasu-omikami is enshrined. The shrine is also famous as a sunset viewing spot. Every August 7th, a special shrine sunset festival is held. The festival is open to all visitors.
