“Takeshima aquarium” is located in Gamagori City, Aichi Prefecture. The aquarium has a history of over 60 years. The unique exhibitions that are held in the historic facility are popular. Takeshima aquarium constantly exhibits approximately 500 kinds of 4500 marine and freshwater creatures. The aquarium boasts the largest number of displayed deep-sea fish in Japan. The detailed explanations on handmade plates by caretakers are what keeps the aquarium's popularity alive. The unique and smile-provoking explanation is popular on social media, too. There is more to the aquarium. You can touch sea creatures at the “Sawarin Pool”, and close viewings of the zalophus show and the capibara show are very popular. The souvenir shop sells unique original products like “Cho gusokumushi rice cracker”, a rice cracker coated with powder of bathynomus doederleinii, a deep-sea creature.
