“Takeshima” is located in Gamagori City, the southern part of Aichi Prefecture. In the small island, 680 m in circumference, there are 238 kinds of plants favoring warm climate, and the whole island is designated as a national natural treasure. The island has 5 shrines and is known as a spiritual spot. Takeshima is assessable through 387-meter long “Takeshima bridge”. The bridge is known to bring good luck for marriage and is believed to attract good fortune when couples cross the bridge hand in hand without looking back. The first thing you will see after crossing the bridge is “Yaotomi Shrine”. It is one of “the best 7 Benzaiten in Japan”. Deity of the shrine is “Ichikishimahime no Mikoto”, a god of better fortune, safe delivery, and marriage. In 1930, “Takeshima Yaotomi Shrine” was designated as national natural treasure. The island has 4 shrines: “Uga shrine”, “Oguro shrine”, “Chitose shrine”, and “Hachidairyu shrine”. Visiting all the shrines is said to bring you lifelong happiness.
