Kochi Castle
"Kochi Castle" is located in the central region of Kochi city, Kochi prefecture. It was constructed by Katsutoyo Yamauchi, who was rewarded the Tosa Province from Ieyasu Tokugawa after his success at the battle of Sekigahara. Still preserving the atmosphere since its construction in the Edo era, it has many "must see features", starting from the luxury structures of the castle tower, the Honmaru Palace, and the Ote-mon gate, along with unique facilities, such as the "Ishiotoshi" and "Kitsumon" both used for defense upon enemy raids. As for events, a traditional market taking place since the Edo period is held every Sunday at the Ote-mon gate. You should also check for seasonal events, such as the "Flower Corridor" held during the hanami season in spring, and the "Autumn Castle Festival" which is a tsukimi event for watching the harvest moon of the autumn night sky.
