Yoku-on-kan Park

Yoku-on-kan park stands in the Tokyo suburbs of Koganei. The park is an ideal spot to enjoy nature's seasonal changes. The park’s deciduous trees are covered with bright green leaves in the spring, which turn into a burning red in the fall. The park is home to the historic Yoku-on-kan building which showcases local history dating back as early as the prehistoric Jomon era. The Yoku-on-kan is also known as the site where the educator and novelist Shimomura Kojin spent time with his students and outlined his famous novel Jiro-monogatari, or the Story of Jiro. The Yoku-on-kan is a nostalgic building full of early Showa retro vibe. It preserves the good old Japan and has quietly witnessed the passing of time. The surrounding area is great for seeing Tokyo off the beaten path. Explore the vast and leafy Koganei Park and the Edo Tokyo Open Air Architectural Museum that aims to relocate, reconstruct, and preserve Tokyo’s valuable historic buildings.
