Mitsui Honkan
Mitsui Honkan
"Mitsui Honkan" is located in Chuo-ku, the central part of Tokyo. It is a national important cultural property completed in 1929. It celebrated its 90th anniversary in 2019. The Mitsui Main Building is a building on the site of the former clothing store of Takashi Mitsui, the founder of Mitsui Holdings. It is said to be the pioneer of a complex office building, and was once the headquarters of Mitsui Limited, Mitsui Banking Corporation (currently Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation) and Mitsui & Co., Ltd. The architectural style is Greek retro neoclassicalism. The fascinating appearance built with the most advanced technology at the time is attractive. The interior of the building is also decorated with fine details, showing a breathtaking beauty. The “Mitsui Memorial Museum” is set up on the 7th floor of the museum, which displays approximately 4,000 items, including valuable artworks and materials collected by the Mitsui family. There is also a museum shop and a cafe where you can purchase souvenirs that can only be purchased here.
