The Akita City Minzoku Geinou Densho-kan is a cultural museum located about at 15-minute walk away from Akita Station. The museum was made in 1992 to preserve and share Akita prefecture’s unique culture. Here, you can learn about the history of Akita prefecture, and watch special movies about the culture. There is even a display of a real kanto pole, used in the prefecture’s famous Kanto Festival. On weekends and holidays from April to October, you can watch the kanto performances live at the museum.
