Gappo Park Beach

Gappo Park

Gappo Park, in the city of Aomori, was created in 1894 by gardener Mizuhara Eisaku. This park faces the ocean, which is rare for a city park. In fact, it is chosen as one of the 100 City Parks of Japan. There are 31 historical memorials and monuments throughout the park, such as the 400-year-old pine tree, and monuments of famous Japanese poets. Visit in the spring to see the 670 someiyoshino cherry blossom trees bloom and decorate the park. A spring festival is held here, and in the summer, the park turns into a beach.
