The Shonan Hiratsuka Festival began in the 1950s as a way to revive the city of Hiratsuka after the Second World War. The festival today is known for its extravagant decorations that garnish the Shonan StarMall, the main venue of the festival. Some decorations are over 10 meters tall! During the festivities, there are many events such as a large parade.
