Imamiya Shrine
Imamiya Shrine
Imamiya Shrine, located in Nanihaya-ku of Osaka City, is known as "Ebessan", which came from the god of thriving businesses, Ebisu. This shrine came about from the imperial emperor's period when Prince Shotoku built Shitennoji Temple in Osaka and began to indulge Zen as a guardian deity in the west of the same area. At Imamiya Shrine, a ceremony called "Ten Days" occurs every year from January 9th to the 11th. In western Japan, many shrines celebrate "Ten Days", so it is seen as a regular event. However, this shrine is known for putting on a more lively event. Over 1,000,000 people visit every year and pray for their business to thrive. The viewing of bankers counting all the new money that was thrown in is a stable highlight of the event.
