Hokkaido University
Hokkaido University
Hokkaido University Sapporo Campus is located at a 7 minute walk from Sapporo Station. After opening in 1918, this university is widely known as "Hoku dai". Regardless of being in the middle of the city, the 177㎢ campus has rich nature, making the campus a classic Sapporo tourist spot. First, get a campus map at the information center, called Elm's forest. If you walk around the campus with a map, you can find the "Hokkaido University Museum", where you can learn all about the history of the university. Also, for lunch, go eat at the "Chuo cafeteria" and enjoy the beef toro bowl made with domestic beef. Taking a look at the beautiful nature is also a must. You can take a walk along the street with 70 gingko trees all lined up. In the autumn, the leaves turn to a bright yellow. At the end of October, the university hosts a gingko tree light up event, called "Hokkaido University Golden Leaf Festival". Come see the beautifully lit view for yourself.
