Kyurei Former Cold Storage Facility

The Kyurei Former Cold Storage Facility is located in Oma, Aomori, a town known for its amazing Pacific Bluefin Tuna. This was the former site of the Japan Fisheries cooperative’s cold storage facility. Today, Kyurei is used as an event space.
During tuna fishing season, there are many events held at Kyurei. Every Sunday in September and October is named Maguro (tuna) Day, and events such as tuna shows and tuna sales are held.
In August, the Blue Marine Festival is held. It is Honshu’s (Japan’s main island) northernmost festival, and there, you can enjoy seeing tuna shows and eat the tuna, too. After sunset, there will be a fireworks display held.
