Oma Port locates in Oma, the northernmost town in Honshu (main island of Japan). The port is famous as a fishing port, and its main catch is the Pacific Bluefin tunas. In fact, the tuna caught here are referred to as Oma Tuna. Oma Tuna is known to be a high-grade fish. The fish caught here can be as big as 400 kilograms, and can sell for over one million US dollars! At the port, you can see the Oma Tuna getting fished and hauled up onto land. Tuna fishing season is from late August into the New Year. Between August and October, there are special tuna shows held at the Kyurei Former Cold Storage Facility nearby.
