Noboribetsu Onsen Hot Springs

Noboribetsu Onsen Hot Springs
Noboribetsu Onsen is located in western Hokkaido. It is one of the most popular hot spring resorts in Japan, and has been nicknamed a "department store of hot springs" for its great variety of 9 different hot springs.
This hot spring town has about 20 inns and hotels, where visitors can enjoy nine types of hot springs, such as a salt spring, sulfur spring, simple spring, and iron spring. We also recommend taking a stroll on the main street of the hot spring town, "Gokuraku Dori". This street is full of character and has many different restaurants and souvenir stores.
Another must-see location is the "Jigokudani" -- Hell's Valley. This crater was made by a violent eruption of Hiyoriyama Mountain, and 10,000 tons of hot springs a day bubble at the bottom of it. The sight is reminiscent of the underworld, and visitors take the 10-minute long boardwalk to see the volcanic activity of this land up close.
