Kamuiwakka Hot Spring Falls

Kamuiwakka Hot Spring Falls
Kamuiwakka Hot Falls locates on the northeastern coast of Hokkaido. The waterfall comes from Mount Shiretoko-io, an active volcano locating in the town of Shari. The falls are one of the eight scenic spots of Shiretoko, and was designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2005. Mount Shirtoko-io is a sulfuric volcano, and its spring waters flow directly through the waterfall. Between June and October, you can even climb up the warm falls and feel the heat of the natural springs. Nearby are many other sightseeing spots, such as the Shiretoko Five Lakes. The five lakes are surrounded by forests and have an ethereal atmosphere to them. From the elevated wood path, you can get a beautiful view of the first lake and the general area.
