Lake Mashu

Lake Mashu
Lake Mashu is a part of the Akan Mashu National Park in eastern Hokkaido’s town of Teshikaga. The lake is the second clearest lake in the world, coming in after Russhia’s Lake Baikal. The waters of Lake Mashu have very little impurities, and are so clear that you can see the bottom of the lake. The color of the lake is even referred to as “Mashu Blue”. About 100 days every year, the lake is covered in fog. The sight is absolutely breathtaking and ethereal. In the winter, the trees around the lake freeze, creating a beautiful view. Around the lake are other scenic spots like Lake Akan.
