Ginsendai is located in the town of Kamikawa in central Hokkaido. It lies on Sounkyo Gorge, and is a spot that offers excellent views. Visit in mid-September for a stunning fall foliage. Take an hour hike to the view spot for the best view of the fall mountain. Since many people visit Ginsendai during in September, cars are prohibited to avoid congestion. Instead, you can take a taxi or shuttle bus to Ginsendai. Nearby, you can find the 1,984-meter tall Mount Kurodake. The fall foliage there is beautiful as well.
