Cape Soya

Cape Soya is located on the northernmost point in Japan in Hokkaido. On the cape, you can find the Monument of the Northernmost Point of Japan. The shape of the monument is inspired by the North Star, and is shaped in a triangular pyramid.
On clear days, you can see as far as Sakhalin (a Russian island), which is around 40 kilometers away.
The cape is a popular destination for seeing the first sunrise of the year. From dawn on New Years day, fireworks are launched into the sky as spectators wait for the first sunrise of the year.
